New travel advice website urges “listen to your elders”
A new travel review website that encourages older people to share their travel and holiday experiences online, has appointed five highly experienced, mature travel professionals to offer travel advice to site visitors.
And Silver Travel Advisor’s MD and travel industry veteran, Debbie Marshall says “when it comes to taking advice about travel, we should listen to our elders”.
The `Silver Travel Advisors’ (silvertraveladvisor.com) have an average age of 72 years, and all of them have considerable travel experience, most have devoted their careers to the travel industry and all have been illustrious travellers.
Debbie Marshall said “At Silver Travel Advisor we greatly appreciate and value age and experience and our advisors have over two hundred years of travel experience between them.
It’s so disappointing to hear how older people can be treated in the workplace when they have a wealth of knowledge and qualities that younger people just haven’t acquired. We have created a forum for travel information to be shared not just among older people, but to be accessible by all. Sussex based Dinah Holland who has over fifty years experience as a travel professional, having worked with a number of major UK tour operators. She now runs a rural bed & breakfast and works part time answering incoming e-mail enquiries from Silver Travel Advisor members.
Chrissy Nason is the one of the most junior of the Silver Travel Advisor advice team celebrating a big birthday this month. Her travel career over 40 years has included working for Crystal Holidays, Thomson Holidays and other companies within the Tui group, as well as recently owning and managing prestigious London holiday apartments.
Angela Papageorgiou has lived on the island of Corfu for almost forty years and Greece is now her permanent home. She has always enjoyed travelling to ‘faraway places’ and has also travelled extensively within Europe and made several visits to Canada. Her working life has centred around travel and she has never lost her zest for discovering a new destination.
David Powell took up travel journalism over fifteen years ago after a career in the public sector, and now writes and edits travel sections for newspapers in the south east of England. Cruising, rail and UK holidays are his personal specialities, he is also a frequent visitor to Cyprus and New York, and considers himself an expert on Disneyland Paris.
