Retreat to a Cyprus Spa and avoid the Royal Wedding

1st April 2011 Print

One way of escaping the hype surrounding a certain wedding on 29 April is to flee the country and retreat to the Ayii Anargyri Spa Resort, idyllically set in a wooded valley in the Cyprus hills, where you can immerse yourself in the hotel’s own mineral-rich spring and other calming treatments.

A seven night package with Olympic Holidays, flying from Manchester on 27 April, now costs £569 per person, twin share, for a week’s bed and breakfast at this boutique – just 56 rooms – adult-only four-star hotel.  The price includes airport transfers and represents a saving of £150 per person.

The hotel offers everything from a soak in the Sulphur Spring Pools (£39) to pamper packages costing £195 for a Hydra lift facial, a relaxation massage, manicure and pedicure.

Built around the original stone monastery (some of the rooms still offer this sense of history), people have been taking the waters here since 1649.  Today, the hotel uses local produce in the restaurant and wines made from its own vineyard.

The Ayii Anargyri Spa is just one of several superb Spa Hotels on the island of Cyprus.  Others include the InterContinental Aphrodite Hills Resort Hotel, the Thalassa Hotel and Le Meridien Limassol Spa & Resort.
