The Killers play out Ischgl's ski season

Late snow fell on Ischgl at the weekend as 15,000 fans rocked to The Killers in the Tirolean resort's Top of the Mountain season-closing concert on Saturday (30 April).

The band rolled out all their hits, kicking off with Human, in the lunchtime gig at Idalp, at the top of Ischgl's main Silvrettabahn gondola.

"We know you could be skiing so we really appreciate you staying here to watch us," frontman Brandon Flowers told the enthusiastic audience of skiers and boarders.

They went on to wow the crowd with a 90-minute set, as snow fell gently to help end the season in style.

The mountain-top concert at Ischgl has become the Alps' main rock event of the ski season and The Killers follow recent season-closing acts such as Alicia Keys, Kylie Minogue and Elton John.

The band described the setting and scenery at Ischgl as "awesome" and although they didn't go skiing they did spend the day before the concert enjoying a mountain hike with a local guide after saying they wanted to make the most of the fabulous surroundings while they were in the area.

The last day's skiing of the season at Ischgl was on Sunday (1 May), and the resort closed with good ski conditions and most lifts open – with some intrepid skiers even able to negotiate the runs all the way back to the village.
