With 8.8 million tickets available, the 2012 Olympic Games will give Londoners the first chance to see the world’s biggest sporting event in their own city since London last hosted the games in 1948. 650 sessions across 26 sports will take place in the space of 17 days but some Londoners will be closer to the action than others, and few more so than the residents of Quintain’s Wembley City development.

As the home of English football, Wembley Arena will host the gold medal football matches while Wembley Arena will host the badminton and rhythmic gymnastics events. Situated on the 87 acres surrounding these two iconic venues and getting residents closer to the action than most is Wembley City – one of the UK’s largest mixed-use new development projects.

Set to become one of north London’s biggest attractions, once finished this scheme will include cafes, bars and restaurants, a large variety of shops, a nine-screen cinema and the largest designer outlet store within the M25 in addition to offices, student housing, a Hilton hotel and an apart-hotel.

The Hilton hotel and student housing will be open in time for the Olympics and the first two residential phases, Forum House and Quadrant Court, are already completed and a selection of apartments, from studios to two-bedroom duplex penthouses, are currently available to both rent and buy.

As well as playing host to three popular events, Wembley also benefits from excellent transport links which will allow visitors and residents a quick and easy route to central London and other Olympic venues including as the Velodrome, Olympic stadium, North Greenwich Arena via the Jubilee, Metropolitan, Bakerloo tube lines.

Paul Hogarth, head of residential at Quintain comments, “It is not just east London that is benefitting from the Olympics – they are also helping put some of London’s hidden gems, like Wembley, firmly onto the map and into the minds of potential purchasers.”

“Buyers and investors often believe that finding a brand new apartment for £180,000 in a development that offers access into central London in less than 15 minutes is a dream, but at Wembley City it is a reality. We get a lot of interested buyers who admit to having previously written off areas like Wembley just on the basis of its being in Zone 4, but they generally change their minds pretty quickly when they realise that here, they can get zone 2 connectivity for zone 4 prices!

The interior specification at Wembley has been designed to minimise ongoing maintenance while reflecting the contemporary nature of the development: bathrooms are mirrored or tiled from floor to ceiling with steel baths and shaver sockets; contemporary fitted kitchens feature ceramic tiling and quality branded appliances finished in brushed stainless steel; bedrooms feature built-in wardrobes, and all of the apartments have underfloor heating.

To ensure that buyers are not left with out of date technology within twelve months of their purchase, Quintain has future-proofed the apartments at Wembley City, meaning that all homes have access to a 100mb broadband connection and the UK’s first Envac waste system, which transports waste off-site quickly and hygienically through a series of underground vacuum pipes twice every day.

For security and peace of mind, each apartment at Wembley City is provided with a digital video/audio entry-phone system and the main entrance doors can only be entered using a fob. The development also offers secure underground parking covered by CCTV and the only 24-hour concierge service in Wembley.
