As the length of gap year travel shrinks, so do the prices

Recent research by a certain insurance company has shown that travellers are opting for a couple of months rather than a full year of travel during the gap between their studies or entering the working world.

The results of this research have been confirmed by Gap Year industry insiders who have recently seen a growing change in the length of travel for what has been traditionally known as the ‘Gap Year’.

Sam Cox, Managing Director of i-to-i: “It is true that the travel industry is seeing changes in how long people wish to travel for on their gap year. Whilst we still have many people looking to travel for a year or more, we’re also seeing a growing number that are choosing to travel for 1 to 6 months and incorporating a gap break into their free time between school and university. At present, the most popular duration for a trip is 4 weeks. You could argue that the traditional Gap Year is becoming more of a Gap Stint”.

With many college students about to finish exams and enter in to a period of limbo, this could be the perfect opportunity to use the time for a gap stint abroad… especially if it comes with 15% off.
