smart festival is back with a difference for 2011

The smart festival, the world’s biggest single-day gathering of smarts, is confirmed for 2011, taking place on Saturday, 10th September at Mercedes-Benz World, Weybridge.

As well as celebrating all things smart, this year’s event gives visitors the chance to experience a ‘test drive with a difference’.

This unique test drive experience was a key part of the recent smart urban stage and elements of it will be adapted for the smart festival. Those who take a ‘test drive with a difference’ will be able to sample the smart electric drive, as well as current models from the smart range.

An exclusive set of smart fortwo body panels created at the smart urban stage will also be auctioned for charity at the smart festival.  Created by illustrator Johanna Basford, the panels were creatively transformed into an amazing work of art that was inspired by the tweets from the public on their visions for the future.

Also new for this year’s festival are a free on-site fitting service of the new smart foryou graphics and decals; a ‘meeting point’ where visitors can chat to the specialists behind smart social media and digital communications; and an exclusive preview of an exciting smart project in collaboration with the stylish clothing manufacturer, Boxfresh.

As with previous smart festivals, smart owners have the opportunity to pre-enter their cars in competitions to find the ‘most modified’, ‘best kept’ and ‘best dressed’ smart. The manufacturer will also be displaying its full range along with some of the most memorable, one-off smart specials and concepts.

“Last year’s smart festival was the best ever with over 4,000 people attending and we are pulling out all the stops to make sure the 2011 event attracts even more visitors.  We’ll be providing an unprecedented insight into the smart ethos of fun, affordable and environmentally compatible motoring while giving visitors the chance to take a test drive with a difference,” said Gary Savage, Managing Director, Mercedes-Benz Cars.

“As smart is innovative, we are continually looking for ways to mirror this at the smart festival and our latest attractions are certain to add even more excitement to what has become the essential event in the busy smart social calendar.”
