Thomas Cook publishes new guide Southampton

27th May 2011 Print

Thomas Cook has recently published it’s first-ever city guide to Southampton.

For more than 135 years, Thomas Cook has been publishing travel guides to destinations around the world and this autumn sees the launch of new titles in a range entitled ‘The Best of Britain’.

Independently authored by experienced freelance journalist, travel writer and author Debbie Stow who specialises in writing about UK destinations, the guide celebrates the best of what Southampton has to offer including its medieval landmarks, beautiful parks and old town area, as well as the nearby Isle of Wight and New Forest.

Home to two universities and around 40,000 students and also cruise capital of Northern Europe as embarkation point for some of the best known cruise lines, Southampton’s maritime history is just one many reasons why people choose to visit the city and the guide is expected to be much sought after.

Providing an authentic commentary and recommending places of interest to visit, the guide also provides a host of factual and practical information aimed at promoting the city to both new tourists and frequent visitors.

Chris Young, Director of Publishing for Thomas Cook UK & Ireland said, "We pride ourselves on our history of producing independent travel guides which appeal to both first time and frequent visitors.

“Our guides reflect the history, the personality and what makes our great cities different, as well as providing a wealth of useful visitor information and we’re sure even the most frequent visitor will find something new.”

With fifteen new titles publishing in the Best of Britain series and more planned, Thomas Cook will offer the most comprehensive list of UK city guide titles on offer.
