Britain’s leading guided walks tour operator, Ramblers Worldwide Holidays is offering a one week tour of The Alpujarras – the beautiful southern valleys of the Sierra Nevada.

Base for this adventure is Capileira – a village founded by the Moors 500 years ago, which is perched above the spectacular Poqueira Gorge.

Great walking country with lush valleys and mountain streams fed by the highest peaks in mainland Spain – Mulhacen and Veleta.

Highlights include, walking the old mule trails from one pueblo blanco (white village) to another; the river walk from Trevelez to Portugos with its pine and oak forests; an ascent of the 2500m Peña Bon above Trevelez and the Monte Pampaneira Ridge with excellent views down the Guadalfeo River Valley and Porqueira Gorge.

In addition there will be two grades of walking each day (a choice of easier or harder), each with a dedicated leader.

Price for one week from £725 per person includes return flights, half-board accommodation and the services of a dedicated tour leader.
