Air France puts on a show for Orlando!

10th June 2011 Print

As from 7 June, Air France is operating three weekly flights to Orlando (on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays on departure from Paris) by Boeing 777-300ER (472 seats).

Orlando therefore becomes the 14th destination to be served by Air France to the United States. This route launch illustrates Air France KLM’s 10% increase in capacity this summer to North America and responds to strong demand from American, French, Italian and Spanish customers.

With more than 50 million visitors each year, Orlando is the top tourist destination in the U.S., particularly thanks to its many theme parks and its major role in the entertainment industry. Orlando is also the second largest center for conventions in the United States and home to many biotech companies.

To mark the launch of flights to Orlando, Air France has collaborated with Disneyland Paris to celebrate with a series of special events:

- 15 teenagers invited by the Air France Foundation
Five teenagers from towns near Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport have been invited by the Air France Foundation to discover the delights of Orlando, Disney World and the Kennedy Space Center. They will be making a photographic documentary of their trip in the form of a travel diary. Their photos will be exhibited in September at the Air France Head Office.

- Air France Facebook page: “Discover Orlando” with up to 20 trips to be won
Up to 16 June 2011, Air France is running a new game on its Facebook page called "Discover Orlando" aimed at promoting this new destination. Every other day, the 375,000 fans can answer a question about the city. Each lucky winner will receive 4 air tickets to Orlando, 4 nights in a hotel at Walt Disney World Resort and passes for the 6 Disney parks: Theme Parks (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios, Disney's Animal Kingdom) and Water Parks (Disney's Blizzard Beach, Disney's Typhoon Lagoon). By inviting their friends to play, they double their chances of winning. This event is also being promoted on Air France’s 25 Twitter accounts.

- A rare photo: Mickey Mouse, the surprise guest star at Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport!
To celebrate the inaugural flight to Orlando, Mickey Mouse came all the way from Disneyland Paris to make an exclusive surprise appearance at terminal 2E at Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport, for the enjoyment of the passengers on flight AF694. Accompanied by the Disneyland Paris band, Mickey Mouse was happy to pose for the inevitable photo session and helped to cut the ribbon in the boarding lounge to the delight of everyone there. The Flight Captain, Serge V. and a flight attendant, Valérie L., even came to greet him at the door of the Boeing 777-300ER for a rare photo. 3 children (Romain, 12 years old, Marine, 13 and Alicia, 14) from the group of 15 teenagers invited by the Air France Foundation were in the photo too.
