The multi-award-winning Ford Mondeo has hauled in another accolade, as one of Practical Caravan magazine’s Tow Cars of the Year.

The Mondeo 163PS 2.0 TDCi Titanium estate with Powershift transmission was victorious in the 1,575-1,724 kg kerb weight category.

The combination of Ford's powerful, efficient 2.0-litre Duratorq TDCi engine and smooth, effortless six-speed, twin-clutch Powershift transmission cemented Mondeo’s position as the best tow car in its class.

Nigel Donnelly, editor of Practical Caravan, said:  “Our driving judges were very satisfied with the Mondeo’s stability, right up to the legal limit and beyond.  A brilliant estate and a swift and secure towcar.”

The judges were also impressed by the refreshed 2011 Mondeo’s interior and exterior enhancements, including new LED lights, revised bonnet profile redesigned centre console and on-board technology ranging from multi-media DVD system and 265-watt sound system, to lane departure warning and speed limiter.

“You could argue the Ford Mondeo didn’t need its recent facelift – it was still one of the best family cars around. But useful improvements have been made to the latest car,” added Donnelly.

The award-winning new Ford Mondeo range is priced from £17,695 on the road.
