Three Citroen models have been recognised for their standard-setting security features in the 2011 British Insurance Vehicle Security Awards (BIVSA).  The Citroen C4 Picasso Exclusive has been named as the leading Compact MPV, the Citroen C5 Exclusive has been adjudged the best Family Car and the Citroen C6 has received the top honour in the Executive Car class.

The 2011 results mean fifth consecutive wins for both the Citroen C4 Picasso Exclusive and the Citroen C6, and a fourth consecutive win for the Citroen C5 Exclusive - in fact all three have won every year since they were launched.

The BIVSAs were established in 2004 to recognise those manufacturers producing the most secure cars and to raise consumer awareness of what is best in vehicle security.  The categories, selection criteria and methodology were developed jointly by the Automobile Association, Department for Transport, Home Office and Thatcham, and are backed by the British motor insurers and other organisations interested in improving vehicle security.

All categories are subjected to stringent testing and assessment in two distinct aspects of their security systems: theft of the vehicle and theft from the vehicle.  The former assessment includes the resilience of locks, glazing, key management and electronic security systems, while the latter includes elements such as ICE and in-car electronic security, storage areas and spare wheel security.

Mike Briggs, Vehicle Security Manager at Thatcham commented; “With 3 separate category winners in this year’s awards, Citroen continues to demonstrate their commitment to vehicle security standards and, as a result, are helping to minimise the anxiety and disruption of becoming a victim of vehicle crime.  Consistently amongst the winners in these prestigious awards, Citroen should be widely congratulated for their efforts.”
