The Unique Travel Company is offering gap breaks teaching English in schools and orphanages on the tropical Indian Ocean island of Sri Lanka from around £550 per person for four weeks or £1,020 for twelve weeks.

Ideal for school leavers starting university this year to avoid increased fees in 2012, Unique Travel’s volunteer projects include schools around the coastal town of Negombo, which are badly in need of assistance.

Students will also be able to discover the fascinating island of Sri Lanka, which boasts 14 national parks teeming with wildlife, a coastline stretching over 1,300kms with some of the best golden sand beaches in the world, numerous historic, cultural and religious sites, glorious scenery bathed in sunshine and a plethora of activities from white-water rafting to trekking in virgin rainforest.

Unique Travel makes a financial contribution for every volunteer that is placed at one of the schools, which is used to purchase equipment and facilities that are sadly lacking.

Prices start from around £550 for four weeks including airport transfers, local orientation, accommodation and meals with local families, 24-hour support in Sri Lanka and assistance with visa extensions; flights extra.
