Bored of Biarritz and tired of Tarifa? Then head to Jamaica this summer for the Makka Pro Surf Championship, which takes place from the 29th – 31st July 2011 on Makka surfing Beach at Southaven, St. Thomas, Jamaica.

Shaping up to be one of the largest events in Jamaica’s surf history, Makka Pro Surf is fast becoming a popular event on the international surf calendar. Wave-worshippers from Jamaica and around the world will battle it out for Western Atlantic Pro Surf Series points and the chance to win the $10,000 prize. Makka Pro Surf in Jamaica is the third stop in the Western Atlantic Pro Surf Series which also includes a series of events on the East Coast of the US and other Caribbean islands.

In addition to chasing waves, competitors and spectators can marvel at the Skate Board and BMX demos alongside the Reggae beats of live music performances.

Following the creation of the Jamaican Surfing Association in 1999, Jamaica has been pushed to the forefront of the Surf Tourism Market; especially as the island has an eight month surf season. Also, Jamaica has been represented at every World Surfing Games and World Junior Surfing Championships since 2002, and as such Makka Pro Surf provides the perfect stage on which to further showcase Jamaican surfing.
