After losing around four and half stone in weight over the past two years, new-look Sharon Clark decided to put her new-found fitness to the test.

Using the Leicester 5km Race for Life as a personal challenge, whilst helping boost funds for cancer research, Sharon says she has now been bitten by the running bug!

Sharon – a sales administrator at Harrison Murray estate agents’ Halford Street branch in Leicester – raised £170 for Cancer Research UK, largely thanks to sponsorship from friends and colleagues at the office and throughout the company.

She said: “This was the first race I’d taken part in since leaving school! It was great fun and very emotional but the atmosphere was terrific.

“My main reason for taking part was more a personal challenge. I’d joined a gym a couple of years ago. Since then I’ve lost four and a half stone in weight and I wanted to sort of cement the fact I’d done that.

“Like many other women taking part I have lost people close to me to cancer, but this was just about helping to make a difference.”

Sharon is already preparing for the event next summer, with her sights on taking part in a 10km. she added: “I’m even contemplating joining a running club - it’s that addictive.”
