Mother and daughter become neighbours at Manor Park
Two generations of the same family have fallen in love with Charles Churchs’ exclusive Manor Park development in Melksham and are now enjoying being new neighbours!
Chris and Kate Fairley were living near Wootton Bassett, but when they decided to send their children to Stonar School in Melksham, the travelling became too much and they looked at moving nearer to the school.
Kate explains: “We knew we only wanted to buy with Charles Church because of their reputation - we have friends in the North West who’ve purchased homes with the company and they rave about them. “We started looking around the Melksham area and saw the Charles Church sign when the development was still a field. We just waited for it to be built!”
The Fairleys chose a Skipton five bedroom three storey property which offered plenty of space for their three children aged 13, six and two. They were drawn to its size and layout as well as its location in a bay cul-de-sac overlooking a balancing pond.
On the day the family moved in, Kate’s mother Patricia Gash came to look after the children and ended up purchasing the property opposite – a four bedroom Gannock house-type.
“I’d been trying to sell my home in Formby near Liverpool and two days before my daughter moved in at the end of February, I got a buyer who wanted to move in before the end of March,” says Patricia.
“While I was helping Kate with her move, I saw the ‘for sale’ sign at the house opposite, looked at it and signed then and there. I moved in just three weeks later. I couldn’t believe how quickly and easily it all went through.
“I’m on my own and don’t have a husband who can do DIY so it’s good living in a new house. It’s so nice to be across the road from Kate and the children who pop in after school.”
As Kate’s husband is a pilot in the military, he is away during the week so she says having her mum living so close is lovely.
Situated literally where town meets country, Manor Park is an exclusive development set within stunning natural scenery. The last five houses on phase one of the development are currently available, offering spacious homes built to a high specification.
The final Portland, a luxurious four bedroom detached property with a double garage, is priced at £324,995. Facing open countryside and in a cul-de-sac position, the Portland is an impressive double-fronted stone built house.
On the ground floor is an open style large kitchen / breakfast room leading to a utility room, a lounge, family room, study and cloakroom. Upstairs is a huge master bedroom with en suite, three generous further bedrooms and a family bathroom with both a shower cubicle and bath.
There are also four Yarmouth house-styles available, priced rom £249,995 with a single garage. Similarly, these are four bedroom detached properties with views across the countryside.
They offer a large lounge, dining room, kitchen with separate utility room and a cloakroom on the ground floor. The first floor sees the master bedroom with en suite, bedrooms two, three and four, and a family bathroom.
A real community is developing at Manor Park with plans for a primary school, a local centre offering healthcare and community services, cycle ways, playing fields and park areas on the development.
Home-owners including Kate are already enjoying monthly coffee mornings and, as more people move in, a vibrant community is set to grow.
The development combines beautiful countryside, a bustling town rich in heritage and excellent road and rail links with easy access via the M4 to major cities including London, Bristol, Swindon and Oxford.
