Mother and daughter become neighbours at Manor Park

25th July 2011 Print

Two generations of the same family have fallen in love with Charles Churchs’ exclusive Manor Park development in Melksham and are now enjoying being new neighbours!

Chris and Kate Fairley were living near Wootton Bassett, but when they decided to send their children to Stonar School in Melksham, the travelling became too much and they looked at moving nearer to the school.

Kate explains: “We knew we only wanted to buy with Charles Church because of their reputation - we have friends in the North West who’ve purchased homes with the company and they rave about them. “We started looking around the Melksham area and saw the Charles Church sign when the development was still a field. We just waited for it to be built!”

The Fairleys chose a Skipton five bedroom three storey property which offered plenty of space for their three children aged 13, six and two. They were drawn to its size and layout as well as its location in a bay cul-de-sac overlooking a balancing pond.

On the day the family moved in, Kate’s mother Patricia Gash came to look after the children and ended up purchasing the property opposite – a four bedroom Gannock house-type.

“I’d been trying to sell my home in Formby near Liverpool and two days before my daughter moved in at the end of February, I got a buyer who wanted to move in before the end of March,” says Patricia.

“While I was helping Kate with her move, I saw the ‘for sale’ sign at the house opposite, looked at it and signed then and there. I moved in just three weeks later. I couldn’t believe how quickly and easily it all went through.

“I’m on my own and don’t have a husband who can do DIY so it’s good living in a new house. It’s so nice to be across the road from Kate and the children who pop in after school.”

As Kate’s husband is a pilot in the military, he is away during the week so she says having her mum living so close is lovely.
