Yamaha celebrate 2012 in real style

Yamaha have just announced its model line-up for 2012, headed up by the iconic YZF-R1 in its new 50th Anniversary colours, new face and the addition of traction control.   For over a decade the remarkable YZF-R1 has been at the very forefront of high performance motorcycle technology on road or track, with a WSB World Championship title, a BSB title plus numerous national and international race wins to its credit. Since its launch this cutting-edge machine has constantly pushed the boundaries of engine and chassis development, and the latest model takes the R1 experience to a new level. For 2012 this outstanding 998cc supersport motorcycle benefits from a number of electronic and aerodynamic upgrades and modifications which are designed to enhance both its overall performance and controllability.
 
To celebrate 50 years of Grand Prix racing, Yamaha are pleased to announce the launch of a range of models which will feature an evocative race-inspired colour scheme as used by Jorge Lorenzo and Ben Spies in the 2011 MotoGP season. Based on the famous red and white ‘speedblock’ design originally featured on Yamaha’s pioneering Grand Prix race bikes in the 1960s and 1970s, this classic yet contemporary WGP 50th Anniversary colour scheme will be available on the YZF-R1, FZ8, YZF-R6, YZF-R125 and Aerox in 2012. 
 
Featuring very prominently in the enduro world, the WR450F has won a reputation among dirt riders for its gutsy performance across the rev range, combined with precision handling on the toughest terrain, as well as class-leading durability and reliability. For the new race season, Yamaha will introduce an all-new WR450F which benefits from the advanced engine and chassis technology developed from our racing programmes.
