Giving buyers what they want has helped Redrow Homes to be named ‘Best Large Housebuilder’ at the 2011 What House? Awards.

Judges for the awards – often referred to as the ‘Oscars’ of the housebuilding industry - said that Redrow’s New Heritage Collection design launch had been a simple vision; but often the best ideas were the simplest.

Reporting to the awards ceremony at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel, they said: “New Heritage, largely detached two-storey family homes, takes its architectural lead from the Arts & Crafts movement, with projecting plinths, dropped eaves, larch lap boarding and bay windows. But the properties are burnished with high specification interiors and kerb appeal. Not only has the range sold, it has repositioned the Redrow brand, cementing its middle market profile, without neglecting the affordable housing sector.”

The What House? judges also praised the company’s founder and chairman Steve Morgan for his efforts to remind politicians and conservationists that housebuilding is a key driver of economic growth; while highlighting Redrow’s achievements across the year, eg. a 5-star rating for customer satisfaction, opening a new central London operation, recruiting a substantial number of apprentices and winning marketing awards for its ‘Our Pride ~ Your Joy’ campaign and own broadband TV channel.

Beating Berkeley Group and Linden Homes into second and third place in the large housebuilder category, Redrow was described as “the best of the big guns in a very competitive field”.

Now in their 30th year, the What House? Awards with whathouse.co.uk are the most coveted and longest established new homes awards, celebrating the achievements of housebuilders and developers in the UK, both large and small, across 21 categories.

Kim Peters, sales and marketing director for Redrow said: “Last year we came away with silver; to go one further and win the gold award is amazing and is testament to the hard work of Redrow employees across England and Wales. Our current advertising campaign highlights the pride we invest in creating high quality homes which our customers can enjoy living in. To have this recognised independently is very rewarding.”

Redrow builds over 2,600 new homes annually in England and Wales.

Other recent award wins for Redrow have included the title of best marketing initiative for the ‘Our Pride ~ Your Joy’ campaign at the 2011 Housebuilder Awards for innovation and excellence.
