Avoid waiting for physiotherapy by using a health cash plan

22nd November 2011 Print

A recent report by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy has found that some people are having to wait up to 27 weeks for treatment on the NHS.

With a health cash plan people can see a physiotherapist of their choice at any point and claim back money towards the cost.

Raman Sankaran, Sales and Marketing Director for Simplyhealth says: "If you hurt your back, or pick up a knee injury you'll want to get it treated quickly so you're not in pain. Waiting up to 27 weeks for treatment can affect your ability to work, sleep and get around.

"With a cash plan you can book an appointment with an independent physiotherapist and claim back a percentage of the cost, up to an annual limit. There's no need for a GP referral and it means you won't have to wait in pain or discomfort. Once you've joined a plan, you can start claiming straight away for physiotherapy and many other benefits."

Simplyhealth is the UK's biggest health cash plan provider. The Simply Cash Plan and Simply Cash Plan 70 Plus (for people aged 70 and over) both include physiotherapy. They can also be used to help with dental bills, visits to the optician and other complementary therapies such as osteopathy and chiropractic treatment.

The standard Simply Cash Plan starts at £10.20 a month and covers up to four children who are under 18 and living at home for free. The Simply Cash Plan 70 Plus starts at £9.95 a month and includes benefits specifically designed for the older age group, such as occupational therapy and a hearing aid payment.
