Christmas came early for Carbis Bay Holidays this year when they became the only self-catering agency in St. Ives to be given a Green Tourism Business Scheme Gold award for their outstanding commitment to sustainability. In their own personal bid to do their bit for the environment, the luxury specialist Carbis Bay Holidays hasve ensured that its new office onin St. Ives Road is as environmentally friendly as possible and is committed to good environmental practice when carrying out its business operations with clients and property owners.

Richard Brindley, Operations Director, Carbis Bay Holidays, who has been providing luxury self-catering holidays in the St Ives and Carbis Bay and neighbouring St. Ives areas for over 10 years, said, “People come to St. Ives for all sorts of very good reasons, but there’s one major attraction that draws more visitors than any other – its unspoilt natural landscape. And Carbis Bay Holidays are helping plans to keep it that way.” The award comes hot on the heels of the recent British Travel Awards 2011 when St. Ives was once again voted by the great British public as winner of Best UK Seaside Town.

The Green Tourism Business Scheme, the national sustainable tourism certification scheme for the UK, is now the only green certification scheme validated by Visit Britain. Businesses opting to join Green Tourism are assessed by a qualified grading advisor against a rigorous set of criteria, covering a range of areas such as energy and water efficiency, waste management, transport, biodiversity, social involvement, natural and cultural heritage, purchasing and communication. As well as scoring highly with their green policy, Carbis Bay Holidays advises its guests on how to be responsible visitors, whether by reusing and recycling, taking a break from the car, buying local, reducing light pollution or respecting nature.

In addition Carbis Bay Holidays operates a Visitor Gifting Scheme which raises money for three great local charities, Cornwall Wildlife Trust, Steeple Woodland Project (St. Ives) and Shelter Box.

Carbis Bay Holidays is one of the largest letting agents in the St. Ives area of Cornwall with more than 870 exclusive properties, most of them blessed with awe-inspiring sea views, and more VisitEngland Gold Award properties than any other agency in the county. The Gold Award is an accolade given to those luxury holiday apartments, houses and cottages with exceptional levels of quality.
