Couple enjoy a quick and easy move from old to new

Newly weds Scott and Natalie Wilson say their move to a brand new home in Cottingham went so smoothly it was ‘almost too good to be true’.

And what made it so simple, straightforward and pain-free was part exchange from Redrow.

Just weeks after enquiring about the homes at Holtby Gardens the couple are now settled in their new four-bedroom detached home.

They’re also enjoying exploring the area, which includes everything they need, from shops and restaurants to easy access to Hull.

“We were looking to move from our three-bedroom semi in Hull to something bigger where we could hopefully start a family. We put our house on the market but hadn’t received any offers at all. We were scouring the internet for homes in the Hull area and stumbled across Holtby Gardens and it suited us down to the ground,” Scott explained.

“We enquired about part exchange and because our existing home was already on the market it was easy for Redrow to make us an offer to buy the property from us. The part exchange process was very smooth and almost too easy. Everything was done in less than eight weeks and when we were told we could move in before Christmas we thought it was too good to be true – but it wasn’t.”

Scott and Natalie, who are both teachers, visited Fox’s Fold venture in Barton upon Humber to view the Stratford show home and chose a similar design at Holtby Gardens.

The combination of the location and the quality specification were key factors in their decision.

“We didn’t realise how accessible Cottingham is. It’s close to Hull city centre and enjoys easy access to the A63. It’s a picturesque area with a semi-rural atmosphere that really appealed to us, yet with lots of amenities in the busy village centre,” Scott added.

“We like to dine out and there are lots of cafes and restaurants to choose from. Dunswell Road, where the development is situated, is an affluent area with lots of detached houses.”

Because everything in their home is brand new Scott and Natalie won’t have to worry about finding the time or money for repairs and renovations.

“Our house is rendered and looks quite quaint, but inside it’s completely modern. Buying a brand new home meant we had a blank canvas and could choose the finish of the kitchen cabinets, as well as the tiles and the flooring in the bathroom and en-suite. The open plan kitchen and dining room is my favourite feature because it’s full of all of the mod-cons and is great for socialising,” Scott commented.

“The improved energy efficiency of a new home adds to the appeal as we’re likely to save around £500 on fuel bills compared with an older property. Buying new also means we’ve got peace of mind as it’s covered by a warranty from the NHBC, whereas if we’d bought an older property we’d be worrying in case something went wrong.”
