The last race of the season in the American Le Mans Series is staged at Laguna Seca (US state of California) one week after the DTM finale at Hockenheim.

Allan McNish claimed a third American Le Mans Series championship career title when the Scotsman steered his diesel-powered Audi to a second consecutive Petit Le Mans victory at Road Atlanta today (SAT).


After the 12 Hours of Sebring and the Le Mans 24 Hours, the Audi R10 TDI has also won the third major endurance race of the year for Le Mans sportscars:


The points’ situation going into the DTM finale on 14 October at Hockenheim could hardly be closer: With Mattias Ekström (Audi/44 points), Bruno Spengler (Mercedes/42 points) and Martin Tomczyk (Audi/40 points)


Allan McNish starts the annual Petit Le Mans race at Road Atlanta on Saturday (6 Oct) knowing he can clinch his third American Le Mans Series title in the gruelling 1,000-mile race.


The winning streak of AUDI AG in the 1000 mile race at Road Atlanta – better known as "Petit Le Mans" – could not be more impressive: Audi has contested the American long-distance classic seven times to date and has taken the chequered flag on each occasion as winner.


The title decision in the 2007 DTM will only be made in the finale at Hockenheim on 14 October.

It’s getting serious in the DTM: At Barcelona (Spain) on Sunday 23 September the championship battle could be decided – to the benefit of Audi.
