Ford's new product onslaught attracted more private new car buyers last month – boosting retail sales by 20 per cent compared with January 2007.

This year's Ford WISE prize has been awarded to 22-year-old Sally Nicholson, a mechanical and automotive engineering student at Newcastle University.
