Mazda economy surprises established players Responding to critics of models with lower Official Combined government fuel economy figures, Mazda Motors UK entered two of its sportiest models in the 2006 Fleet World/AA/ALD Automotive MPG Marathon held on 4-5 October in the south-west of England. The Mazda6 MPS sports saloon returned an impressive 32.45 per cent increase in its economy figure, enough to earn it second place overall (beaten only by a diesel model) and Best in Class. Meanwhile, the rotary-engined Mazda RX-8 sports coupe achieved an outstanding 17.32 per cent increase.


Mazda3 MPS The new Mazda3 MPS will be the fastest, best handling, best braking model in the hugely popular Mazda3 range when it goes on sale in the UK next February. In fact, Mazda3 MPS reaches the same heights of handling prowess as the Mazda6 MPS, Mazda RX-8 PZ special edition and the iconic two-seater open-top roadster Mazda MX-5.


Mazda highlights: Paris Motor Show 2006 Mazda comes to this year’s Paris Motor Show riding a wave of sales momentum and double-digit growth this year in Europe. The stand in Paris reflects this success with a line up of vehicles that exudes confidence and Zoom-Zoom fun.


Mazda6 Estate scoops yet another award The Mazda6 Estate has proved its towing ability for the third consecutive year at the Towcar of the Year Awards 2007. Awarded for its practicality and excellent towing ability the judges said: “The Mazda6 gets on with the job.” The results of the Competition were announced at The Caravan Club’s annual awards ceremony held at the Royal Automobile Club in London.


Mazda RX-8 Nemesis Mazda is introducing a third special edition model of its Mazda RX-8 rotary powered four‑door sports coupé. Called the ‘Mazda RX-8 Nemesis’ the latest model builds on the success of the earlier Mazda RX-8 Evolve and Mazda RX-8 PZ. The ‘Nemesis’ features unique paint colours and interior trim, plus an exclusive accessory package, all at the extremely attractive price of £22,995 (on-the-road), £330 less than the model on which it is based – when similarly specified.


Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe In the UK, Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe customers will have a choice of three powertrains (1.8i or 2.0i with 5-speed gearbox, 2.0i Sport with 6-speed gearbox), and a range of individual options and accessories to personalise their car. Prices for the exciting new Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe range will start from £18,210 (on the road). This represents a modest premium of £1,200 over the soft top model, as both climate control air conditioning and the Option Pack are standardised on the 1.8i and 2.0i Roadster Coupe models.


Car 96 crosses the finish This weekend's Britcar 24 Hour Endurance Race at Silverstone saw all three Mazda RX-8s that finished last year's 24 hour race complete the round the clock marathon of flat out racing for the second consecutive year.


Mazda CX-7 Mazda Motor Corporation will showcase the European version of the Mazda CX-7, its highly-anticipated crossover sport-utility vehicle (SUV), at the Paris International Motor Show to be held from Thursday, 28 September through Sunday, 15 October 2006.
