Nissan has announced that it will source an innovative all-new compact car from its Sunderland plant in the United Kingdom (UK), starting in 2010. Building on the success of the Qashqai, the all-new product will reinforce Sunderland’s role as manufacturer and exporter of high-value products.


Nissan shared the progress report on its recycling efforts for the fiscal year 2007 (April 2007 to March 2008). This is the second consecutive year that Nissan has exceeded its target recycling rates for end-of-life vehicles (ELVs) in accordance with the Japan Automobile Recycling Law.


Nissan North America’s (NNA) vehicle manufacturing plant in Canton, Miss., celebrated its fifth year of production today. Since the plant’s opening on May 27, 2003, more than 1.3 million vehicles have rolled off the assembly line.

Nissan GT-R Nissan has announced that its GT-R supercar achieved a lap time at the infamous Nürburgring in Germany of seven minutes and 29 seconds. Recorded on April 16 and 17, the GT-R used was a base specification car and fitted with the standard Japanese market tyres. Driven by GT-R chief test driver Tochio Suzuki, this latest lap time beats the previous fastest time for the GT-R by nine seconds.


Nissan announced that global sales of its CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) equipped vehicles topped one million with sales of 1,088,000 in fiscal year 2007, accomplishing the target set under the Nissan Green Program 2010 mid-term environmental plan.
