The 1.6 litre THP (Turbo High Pressure) turbocharged petrol engine which powers Peugeot’s 207 CC, GT and soon to be released GTi models has won the 2007 International Engine of the Year Award in the 1.4 litre to 1.8 litre category.

Following its win at Monza three weeks ago, the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP showed the same winning form in Valencia. It was, however, this time the turn of Pedro Lamy and Stephane Sarrazin to finish in first place after leading practically from the start without the slightest problem.

April was a record month for high temperatures but it was also a great month for Peugeot in the UK.

In the wake of the superb victory of Marc Gene and Nicolas Minassian’s Peugeot 908 HDi FAP at the high-speed circuit of Monza at an average speed of more than 200kph, Team Peugeot Total is now looking to pursue the car’s development at a very different type of track as the 2007 Le Mans Series moves on to Valencia.

Peugeot’s latest single-make championship – the 207 Spider Cup – will serve as the support race for the five European rounds of the 2007 Le Mans Series, as well as for two other major meetings in France.

A Euro NCAP 5 star occupant protection rating confirms the 207 CC offers not only ultimate driving pleasure but also provides maximum protection for its occupants.

The first race weekend for the all-new Peugeot 908 HDi FAP has got off to a very promising start with both cars dominating the front row of the grid in qualifying, and then going on to a fantastic first and third finish in the race.

The 207 GTi THP 175 will write the next chapter in Peugeot’s history of small performance cars, such as the legendary 205 GTi of the 1980s and, more recently, the 206 GTi 180.

As the ’07 plated cars hit UK roads last month, Peugeot enjoyed a strong sales success particularly with their small cars (107, 1007, 206 and 207) where sales rose by 27%, compared with March 2006. This growth was helped by a strong performance from the new 207, which was joined by the new 207 Coupé Cabriolet for the first time last month.

Development and reliability work were on the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP’s programme during the pre-season Le Mans Series test session at Paul Ricard HTTT where the new car was making its maiden official outing. The two-day workout in the south of France ended with the car at the top of the timesheets despite some technical problems.
