Colin McRae will race in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Knockhill over the weekend of 2/3 September. The former World Rally Champion will drive the car entered by Porsche Cars GB in association with Vertu, the world’s first and only manufacturer of luxury handcrafted mobile phones, at his home track during the British Touring Car Championship meeting.

Danny Watts stormed to a fine double victory in rounds 11 and 12 of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Donington Park over the weekend (29/30 July). Meanwhile, title contenders Damien Faulkner and Tim Harvey each took a second and a third place to keep their championship contest very evenly matched.

The Manthey Racing team from Germany will run two brand new Porsche 911 GT3 RSR race cars in the 24 hour race at Spa in Belgium on 29 July. Porsche developed the near-standard racing sportscar based on the road-going 911 GT3 RS, and put it in the hands of the experienced team under the direction of team principal Olaf Manthey. Works drivers Timo Bernhard and Marc Lieb (both from Germany) share driving duties with Pedro Lamy from Portugal in the GT3 RSR with starting number ‘111’. Driving the Porsche with starting number ‘197’ are further ‘works’ drivers Lucas Luhr (Monaco), Sascha Maassen (Belgium) with Marcel Tiemann (Monaco).
The battle for the 2006 Porsche Carrera Cup GB moves to Donington Park (Leicestershire) this weekend (29/30 July) for rounds 11 and 12 of the championship.

Danny Watts was in dominant form as he won rounds nine and ten of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Croft circuit in North Yorkshire over the weekend (15/16 July). Meanwhile, Pro-Am category pace setter Phil Quaife also completed a double victory.

For the very first time, the new Porsche 911 Targa models that go on sale in November will be available exclusively with permanent all-wheel drive. As with their predecessor (Type 996), the most striking feature of both of these elegant sports cars is the large glass roof and opening rear window.

After a six-week mid-season break, the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship resumes over the weekend of 15/16 July at the Croft circuit in North Yorkshire. Heading into rounds nine and ten of the 20-race season, just two points split Damien Faulkner (Co Donegal) and Tim Harvey (Witney) at the head of the championship.

Porsche will once again be participating at this summer’s Goodwood Festival of Speed (July 7 - 9) with a mix of cars from its illustrious past and powerful present. New for the 2006 Festival, visitors will be able to experience the performance and handling of the Porsche Cayenne on a specially designed dynamics course located next to the famous speed hillclimb course.

In the new model year, which begins 1 August, the Boxster and Boxster S will be given more power and torque. Both these mid-engined sports cars will then offer even better road performance and low fuel consumption. Furthermore, the optional Tiptronic S transmission and the Sport Chrono Package have been given additional functions.
