Stars align in United's 'Heart' commercial

United Airlines has released a documentary on the making of its “Heart” television commercial, giving customers a behind-the-scenes look at the studio recording of the ad's musical score by Grammy award-winning American jazz legend, Herbie Hancock, and world-renowned Chinese classical pianist, Lang Lang. The two performed George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue together at the Grammy Awards earlier this year.

United Airlines has announced a new United Express service between Portland and both Klamath Falls, Oregon and North Bend, Oregon, beginning October 12. The service is now open for sale.

U.S. Olympic Committee to renew United's sponsorship for 2012

United Airlines today announced its intention to renew its sponsorship agreement with the U.S. Olympic Committee through 2012, extending its 30-year partnership. As a result of this renewal, United will remain the official airline sponsor of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Teams, flying the athletes to Vancouver in 2010 and London in 2012.

United tests food choices in business and economy

United is launching a trial during the fourth quarter of food options for both business and economy class. As part of the trial, on domestic flights with three cabins of service, United will be offering United Business customers complimentary fresh sandwiches, salads, breakfast, snack boxes or snacks, depending on the length of flight and time of departure.

Continental seeks antitrust immunity

Continental Airlines, United Airlines and eight other Star Alliance member airlines have this month filed an application with the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) for Continental to join the group of nine carriers that already hold antitrust immunity. United Airlines announces new checked bag policy

United Airlines has announced two changes to its domestic checked bag policy. The service fee to check one bag for domestic travel will be $15 each way and the fee to check three or more bags, overweight bags or items that require special handling will increase from $100 to $125 or from $200 to $250, depending on the item.
