Commenting on HSBC's new RateMatcher guarantee, Louise Cuming, head of mortgages at price comparison site moneysupermarket.com, said: "At last, a piece of positive news in the mortgage market. HSBC's guarantee to match the interest rate its fixed rate mortgage customers currently pay when they roll off their existing deals is highly commendable. It also makes good business sense, helping HSBC with customer retention.
