The family has a rural shop and a beekeeper/candle business where you can go on appointment. In walking distance you in the Loosdrecht places, where you can sail wonderfully (boats for hire within 1km) and even the lovely towns of the Gooi are worth a visit. Even Hilversum, Naarden (-fortress), Laren, Utrecht and Amsterdam are close by. An ideal starting point!
