Cortijo la Mata is a traditional whitewashed Andalusian farmhouse constructed in the year 1911 which has been converted into two holiday cottages. Situated in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountain range yet only fifteen minutes by car from the Alhambra Palace and the city of Granada the house is located just outside the old moorish village of Monachil.

For those who are looking for a complete escape to the Andalusian countryside yet want to take advantage of all that the city of Granada has to offer plus take in the ski slopes of Spain's highest mountain range the location is perfect.

From mountain biking, rock climbing and handgliding to flamenco lessons, goats cheese demos and cookery courses we can organize almost anything! Apart from the local Monachil area itself the main attraction is without doubt Granada - the city of the Alhambra, Albaicin and the gypsy caves of Sacromonte.

Sierra Nevada ski station is only 25 minutes from the house with the added advantage that there is a separate road from the village to the resort hence avoiding much of the Granada city traffic.

Granada is well know in Spain for the possibility of skiing in the morning and sunbathing in the afternoon. Beach resorts such as Salobreña and Almuñecar can be reached in 45 minutes by car from the village.
