Pennycroft is in the hills above the Thames between Pangbourne and Goring made famous by Kenneth Grahame in 'The Wind in the Willows'. Yet it is only just over an hour's drive to London (about 50 miles) and less than an hour to Oxford (about 25 miles). It is 15 minutes to the M4 and 40 minutes to Heathrow. There are excellent rail connections to London. Pennycroft is an Edwardian cottage set in the woodland and fields of the Berkshire Downs. It is centrally heated and fully modernised. Pubs and restaurant in the nearby village are within walking distance (about 1 mile). Pennycroft has lawns and gardens for picnics and barbeques and ample parking space for several cars. Pennycroft was inspected in April 2002 by the English Tourism Council and awarded 4 stars for self-service accommodation.
