Assistant Underwriter

A vacancy has arisen in the RS4 Rest of World Underwriting team.

The role involves the assessment of the buyer risks working within a team environment. The primary responsibility will involve researching, preparing and submitting buyer reviews to senior underwriters. There will be occasions when the job holder will need to take first action on cases.

Job Description:
To execute policy on buyers in accordance with local governance and guidelines in order to help control risks and costs, to achieve targeted NET Claims Loss Ratios and to contribute to customer satisfaction (SLAs)

To prepare credit limit applications and buyer review cases in draft, in accordance with local underwriting governance procedures.

Review/monitor the buyer risk in owned market portfolio.

Job Requirements:

A flexible approach to work, together with the ability to plan and manage a heavy workload is needed. Candidates will be educated to at least ‘A’ level standard and hold an academic qualification in a relevant discipline. Alternatively, candidates will have at least 18 months experience in a banking/credit management role.

Knowledge of Balance sheets, cashflow and Profit and Loss accounts is essential and preference will be given to candidates with the ability to use financial analysis techniques. Excellent communication skills are essential.

Successful candidates will be computer literate particularly in the use of MS Office. Experience of handling difficult financial risks would be an advantage.

Candidates must be team players and able to work under pressure in order to meet and exceed targets and tight deadlines. A flexible approach to working sometimes including long hours is essential; a full clean drivers license (UK) would be an advantage.
