Job Description
Key tasks / Responsibilities

To develop and implement people policies, procedures and action plans in support of the site's business objectives

To play an active part in the management team to ensure the human resources implications of business activities are given appropriate consideration

To provide advice and support to the management team on employment law and good HR practice.

To work within a heavily trade unionised environment and in respect of both salaried and hourly graded employees to foster constructive industrial relations.

To liaise and collaborate with Head Office, in particular the Group HR Manager and Training and Development Manager, on HR policy development.

To drive performance management initiatives e.g. appraisal systems, succession planning and management development activities

To provide a recruitment and selection service.

To drive training and development activities across the training cycle, i.e. identification of training needs, planning and delivery of training and development activities and evaluation of training and development in line with business objectives.

To monitor and improve communications processes.

To handle grievance and disciplinary matters, ensure consistency and fairness of approach across the site.

To provide employee counselling and welfare support.

To proceed statistical analyses on human resources matters.

To manage ad hoc HR projects in support of organisational change

To oversee the delivery of an efficient and effective payroll service to Bourn site.

Person Specification

To have a minimum of five year's generalist HR experience to include unionised environments and preferably manufacturing environments.

To be able to demonstrate a successful track record of successfully implementing HR policies which have added value.

To be CIPD qualified to Chartered status and to be of graduate calibre

Ideally, to be qualified and licensed to undertake occupational assessments.

Able to demonstrate an awareness of the business impact of HR issues.

To possess excellent persuading and influencing skills, and ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
