Job Description
Our client is searching for a Network Operations Centre Operator
THE ROLE:
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Required to work shifts patterns (up to 12 hour) within a 24/7 Operations Centre environment
• Be the Focal Hub (SPOC) driving fault resolution in the Business
• Pro-active monitoring of network devices, servers, systems and applications
• Analyse and evaluate data to resolve faults swiftly and precisely
• Recognise issues and initiate Escalation procedures ensuring SLA’s are kept
• Co-ordination and logging of incidents and problems through full life cycle
• Ensure proper handover is carried out with oncoming shift
• Conform to corporate and departmental standards regarding all processes including change, release and capacity management
• Provide root cause outage and statistical analysis reporting
• Interact with group technical teams and third parties to assist with fault resolution
• Develop policies and procedural documentation for the department ensuring they are always current
• Share knowledge and experience with colleagues

• Work flexibly to facilitate changes to shift patterns and work schedules
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES
Essential
• 2+ years proven relevant technical experience in the following: -
o Networking (Routing/Switching) experience
o Windows/Linux/Solaris
o F5 Loadbalancers
o VPN and Firewall Technology
o Script/programming experience (Perl, or C/C++, Java, SQL, http, xml etc)
o Heat/Remedy or similar Incident Management System
o Experience with SOE desktop build, deployment and support
• Business / Technical Analysis skills
• NOC/Helpdesk/IT technical support experience 2nd/3rd line
• Excellent Customer focus
• Sound multi platform experience and good knowledge of web-based applications
• Programming and Scripting experience
• High Availability Data Centre configurations (SAN/Server Farms etc)
Desirable
• 2+ years experience in Networking and Security and/or System and Application, preferably within a high volume financial transaction or ISP environment.
• Knowledge of ORACLE/PostgreSQL/Sybase/MS-SQL Server
• ICND/CCNA/Network +
• Project Management experience
• Documentation / process writing skills and the ability to maintain accurate records
