Katherine Jenkins AEG Live and Historic Royal Palaces proudly announce the Tower Music Festival 2007 – a truly exceptional musical and cultural experience in the heart of the City of London. Over 15 nights this summer, the world’s most recognisable heritage site, the Tower of London will be transformed into a musical institution as artists from the world of rock, pop and opera come together for the Tower Music Festival.

Set in the heart of the capital with fantastic artists including: Elvis Costello, Joe Cocker, James Morrison, Seal, the Gipsy Kings, Katherine Jenkins, Bryn Terfel, Bryan Ferry and Dave Stewart – this year’s festival will whet the appetites of the culturally savvy, with more artists still to be announced.

The Tower Music Festival will open on the 28th June with a star-studded charity gala event in association with ICM Models. Supermodels from around the world including Helena Christensen and Erin O’Connor will take to the catwalk in this unique one-off fashion show along with some of the hottest and most talked about new faces wearing some iconic outfits in what will simply be London’s strongest ever runway show.

The festival will continue its brilliant line-up with the Gipsy Kings bringing their distinctive modern flamenco sound back to London for a welcome return. Roxy Music front-man Bryan Ferry will perform on 2nd July, hot on the heels of the release of his album of Dylan covers. Following him will be UK rock legend, Joe Cocker, famed for his Oscar-winning 'Up Where We Belong' with Jennifer Warnes and as one of the few artists to play Woodstock in both '69 and '94.

Opera sensation Katherine Jenkins and Classical Brit Award winner Bryn Terfel will both perform a night each, as will Brit Award winning chart sensation James Morrison. The legendary Seal will make his much-anticipated live comeback, and British music giant Elvis Costello will also take to the stage for an evening with New Orleans R&B songwriter and artist Allen Toussaint and also featuring Steve Nieve.

Closing the Tower Music Festival will be Dave Stewart - one half of the legendary Eurythmics and a man who Bob Dylan described as a "fearless innovator". After many years of writing and producing hundreds of classic songs known all over the world, Dave Stewart has put together a spectacular group of musicians and a 30 piece orchestra to perform and showcase some of his amazing catalogue of work.

More than just a series of concerts, the Tower Music Festival is an all-encompassing cultural experience. Set in the historic Tower Moat and surrounded by such London icons as Tower Bridge and the River Thames, fans are able to enjoy the jovial and laid back feel of a festival on their doorstep while absorbing the history that surrounds them. Festival-goers will be able to enjoy picnics in the grounds of the Tower while corporate hospitality will be available inside its ancient rooms with menus created by Michelin-starred chef Gary Rhodes.

SHOW INFORMATION

A Night in Fashion
Date: 28th June

An ultimate night in fashion, simply the strongest runway show London has ever seen. The world’s best models, from supermodels such as Helena Christensen and Erin O'Connor, to the hottest and most talked about new-faces wearing the most iconic outfits. This will be the first time that London has hosted a select public show where global icons model together on one night. Two charities will benefit directly from this show - Breakthrough Breast Cancer and Everyman - action against male cancer.

Gipsy Kings
Date: 29th June

The Gipsy Kings are that rare thing – a household name famous solely for their music; the most successful French musical outfit ever. After fifteen albums with more than 20 million sold worldwide, and almost 20 years of success with records, they are the group that has single-handedly modernized flamenco music for a heavy metal and hip-hop world.

Bryan Ferry
Date: 2nd July

As well as the front-man of the elegantly modern art-rock, and bitter-sweet pop-soul of Roxy Music, Bryan Ferry has spent the last thirty-plus years establishing himself as a great songwriter (Love Is The Drug, Mother of Pearl, More Than This, Slave To Love) and as a distinctively modern singer who can transform another writer's song into a piece of compelling, unpredictable drama - filled with emotional complexity and structured with flawless timing. His album ‘Dylanesque’ released March 2007 is a racing and joyous intense interpretation of the songs of Bob Dylan.

Joe Cocker
Date: 4th July

Joe Cocker is one of the world’s most instantly recognizable and iconic voices, a living legend who has been consitently delivering music for over forty years. As well as an accomplished musician, Joe Cocker is also record producer who has proved both his worth and his Midas touch via albums he’s overseen for, among others, Rufus Wainwright, Emmylou Harris, Ryan Adams, Razorlight, Kings of Leon, and Ray LaMontagne. His forthcoming album ‘Hymn for My Soul’ brings together Joe Cocker and Ethan Johns in what has been described as his most accomplished pieces of work in the singer’s long and illustrious career.

Katherine Jenkins
Date: 5th July

Katherine Jenkins surged into the spotlight with her debut album Première in 2003, and has since performed at the Sydney Opera House and the Royal Albert Hall, as well as at major international events including Live8 (Berlin and London), the VE Day celebration in Trafalgar Square and G8 concert at Murrayfield. In 2005 Katherine was awarded Album of the Year at the Classical Brits for ‘Second Nature’. Her latest album ‘Serenade’ went to number 1 in the UK Classical Charts.

Seal
Date: 6th July

Three-time Grammy Award winning singer songwriter Seal shot to fame in 1990 with his smash his “Crazy”. He since went on to achieve world wide recognition following countless hit singles and the UK number one single ‘Kiss from a Rose” taken from the soundtrack of blockbuster Batman Forever. His more recent release ‘A Father’s Way’ was taken from the 2006 film The Pursuit of Happiness.

Elvis Costello with the Allen Toussaint Band & Horns featuring Steve Nieve
Date: 7th July

As an early participant in London’s pub rock scene in the mid 1970’s, Elvis Costello later became associated with the punk rock and new wave musical genres, before establishing himself as a unique and original voice in the 1980s. Over his career Elvis Costello has released many tracks including his biggest hit ‘Oliver’s Army’ in 1979 and the album ‘Flowers in the Dirt’ on which he collaborated with Sir Paul McCartney.

Bryn Terfel
Date: 12th July

The Welsh bass-baritone Bryn Terfel rose to prominence when he won the Lieder Prize in the 1989 Cardiff Singer of the World Competition. Subsequent awards include ‘Male Artist of the Year’ in the 2005 Classical Brit Awards, ‘Male Artist of the Year’ and ‘Album of the Year’ for the platinum selling disk ‘Bryn’ in the 2004 Classical Brit Awards. In 2006 he was awarded the Shakespeare Prize by the Alfred Toepfer Foundation, Hamburg. Bryn has performed in all the great opera houses of the world, and is especially recognised for his portrayals of Figaro and Falstaff. For this performance, Bryn will be accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Lionel Friend.

James Morrison
Date: 13th July

James Morrison was one of the biggest talents to emerge in 2006. At only 21, he released his debut album ‘Undiscovered’ – a spellbinding collection of raw, bittersweet, bluesy-soul songs. As the owner of one of the most charismatic, rootsy soul voices around - comparable to Green and Otis Redding, James Morrison’s debut single ‘You Give Me Something’ stormed the UK charts with his album headed straight to the number one spot.

Dave Stewart Songbook
Date: 14th July

After many years of writing and producing 100’s of classic songs known all over the world Dave Stewart has put together a spectacular group of musicians and a 30 piece orchestra to perform and showcase some of his amazing catalogue of work.
