80’s group B52s announce European tour

It’s party time as the B-52s first European Tour in over 10 years prepares for lift off. The B-52s bring their eagerly awaited Funplex European Tour to the UK in July. Fresh from a triumphant 13 city sold out US tour and currently wowing audiences and media Stateside on the True Colors Festival bill, original members Kate Pierson, Fred Schneider, Keith Strickland and Cindy Wilson are taking their current album ‘Funplex’ to the stage and producing a riotous performance of full-throttle electro rock dance pop.

Alongside new gems like ‘Funplex’, ‘Ultraviolet’, ‘Hot Corner’, ‘Keep This Party Going’ and the sublime ‘Juliet Of The Spirits’, the show features much of the B’s superb catalogue including the mighty ‘Rock Lobster’, ‘Roam’, ‘Mesopotamia’, ‘Planet Claire’ and the classic ‘Love Shack’.

Since their 1978 debut single ‘Rock Lobster’, the B-52s have been true originators, their unique fusion of dance, punk and vintage rock has been acknowledged by everyone from REM to LCD Soundsystem to David Byrne, Interpol, CSS and the Scissor Sisters. 2008’s ‘Funplex’ album saw them return to excellent reviews after a 16 year hiatus and once again deliver a collection of classic B-52s material.

With its primal guitar hooks, driving drums and the B-52s unmistakable vocal style, ‘Funplex’ is instantly recognizable as quintessential and contemporary B-52s. ‘Funplex’ was recorded in their native Athens, Georgia, USA, with producer Steve Osbourne (New Order, Doves).
