Silverline powers up for the British Grand Prix of the Sea
20 August 2007

The Silverline sponsored Buzzi Bullet III will compete in the Round 7 of the Powerboat P1 World Championship, the P1 British Grand Prix of the Sea, at Cowes over this weekend. (Friday 24 to Sunday 26 August). Driving the specially made 850 horsepower boat will be British competitor, Drew Langdon, who was runner-up for the SuperSport world title in both 2004 and 2005. Fellow British competitor, Dr Jan Falkowski, a psychiatrist from London's East End, will navigate him. A world famous seaman and current holder of the famous Blue Ribbon Cross-Atlantic record; Falkowski was a part of the first team for 1000 years to successfully undertake a high-latitude crossing of the Atlantic in an open boat. He partnered Langdon in their superb 2004 and 2005 seasons.

As a supplier of a wide range of power tools, Silverline is the ideal complement to these 100mph, open-top, mono-hull boats. Silverline Director, Darrell Morris says: "Speed is important but it's not everything, reliability however is essential. In fact, boats race to a maximum average speed of 75mph over the whole race distance. It's the same with our power tools. They provide maximum power for an extended period – which is the winning formula for getting jobs done."

The Silverline P1 powerboat will compete on Friday 24th August in Round One of the P1 British Grand Prix of the Sea – the race incorporates a lap of the Isle of Wight and is part of the 47-year heritage of the Cowes Powerboat Festival. Round Two takes place on Sunday 26th August with the Silverline P1 competing on a spectator-friendly course along the shores between Cowes and Thorness.

Drew Langdon and Dr Jan Falkowski are eager to secure another GP victory following the ferocious battle against Roscioli Hotels Roma and Sun Lik Beer during the last round at the German Grand Prix. Their Silverline Buzzi Bullet III is currently second in the 2007 UIM Powerboat P1 World Championship, just 40 points behind the race leader. With only two more rounds following the P1 British Grand Prix of the Sea, a good result could just secure the championship title.

Silverline Director, Darrell Morris, says: "Supporting powerboat racing, drag racing and other forms of motor sport gives Silverline the competitive edge. And the Silverline Power Tool Drag Race, which we held recently at Haynes International Motor Museum, proved that competition is popular with our consumers too."
