Love is... a business partnership
6 May 2008
Research conducted on behalf of Alliance & Leicester Commercial Bank shows that well over a third (38%) of small business owners run their company with support from their personal partner.
Despite the decline in the number of couples choosing to marry, it appears that many are still happy to demonstrate a commitment in the form of a business partnership. When it comes to dividing responsibilities, the most popular roles for the partner to have are in operations, management, sales, finance and general administration.
When it comes to making financial decisions about their company, the partnership doesn't end there; the theme of togetherness continues with over a third (37%) of partners sharing the financial responsibilities affecting their business.
Steve Jennings, Director of Business Banking at Alliance & Leicester Commercial Bank said: "Our research shows that many couples are committed to making their businesses a success. As well as working closely with their partner and making important joint financial decisions which will affect the future financial health of their business, they are both able to achieve a sense of accomplishment and reap the rewards of a sound business partnership."
