Mortgage applications more than double at Leeds Building Society
6 October 2005

Leeds Building Society has seen an increase of more than double the amount of mortgage applications in September 2005, compared to the same period last year.

The UK's eighth largest building society has recorded its biggest month for applications since May 2002, with over £252m of applications received. With the Council of Mortgage Lenders recently reporting only a slight increase in mortgage lending, these results represent an excellent performance by the UK's eighth largest building society.

Karen Wint, Head of Marketing & PR said, "I am delighted with the number of applications received in September, which demonstrates that we are providing our customers with competitively priced mortgages.

"We are firmly committed to offering our customers a choice of channels through which they can apply for a mortgage. The number of applications received was evenly split across these and, therefore, we are also supporting both direct and intermediaries with a fast and efficient service to compliment our excellent product range.

"We have also recently launched a highly competitive 2-year fixed rate mortgage at only 4.75 per cent. Unusually for a fixed rate product of this type, there are no lock-ins whatsoever and customers can pay the mortgage off at any time without penalty. This combination of a fixed rate combined with the flexibility of unlimited capital repayments further underlines our commitment to both direct and introduced customers."
