Toyota supports Forum of Mobility Centres

In line with its global vision for providing mobility assistance for all, Toyota is providing nine specially adapted vehicles to the Forum of Mobility Centres, an independent network of organisations providing information, advice and personal assessment for people with special transport needs.

The Yaris, Auris and Verso models are on free loan for two years and are fitted with the latest range of special seating equipment from the Toyota Mobility Programme, designed to make life easier and safer for people who are disabled, or need extra help getting in and out of their vehicle.

Presenting the keys to the forum last week, Robin Giles, Toyota GB PLC General Manager Corporate Planning and Social Responsibility, said: “We are proud not only to make this vehicle loan, but also to be able to provide Toyota-manufactured and installed adaptations to help passenger assessment. The Toyota Mobility Programme is in its infancy in Europe and we hope to learn much from the feedback that the mobility assessment centres can provide.”

The forum’s Chief Executive, Ed Passant said: “We are delighted with this initiative and have been able to spread the cars across the UK. They will significantly enhance the services we can offer to disabled and older people and specialist Toyota equipment will allow us to demonstrate the latest assistive technology.”

The Forum of Mobility Centres is a charitable network of 17 independent organisations, operating at 40 sites across the country. They provide driver and passenger assessments and comprehensive advice and information to individuals with impaired mobility that affects their ability to drive or get in and out of a vehicle.
