Clinton prepares for the National Route 66 Festival

Planning and preparations are already underway for the 2007 Route 66 Festival to be held in Clinton, Oklahoma., June 21-24. A car and motorcycle show, golf tournament, live musical entertainment and a carnival, are just a few of the activities currently planned for the four-day Festival.

Highlights of the event will include an expo of Route 66 artists and authors, and the Will Rogers Awards Banquet Dinner. Visitors will be able to capture a piece of true Americana at this nostalgic festival and local officials hope to highlight many of Clinton’s attractions to thousands of new visitors.

Many fans of the ‘Mother Road’ are already familiar with the official Oklahoma Route 66 Museum (www.route66.org) located in Clinton. The museum greets guests from around the world each day and the 2006 summer release of Pixar’s movie Cars has added to the recent increase in interest about Route 66.

Clinton is located 90 miles west of Oklahoma City on Interstate 40 and Route 66. Information about visiting Clinton and the Oklahoma Route 66 Museum is available at www.Clintonok.org.
