Location:

Bansko is the fastest developing skiing resort in South Eastern Europe. It is located in the Pirin Mountains, around two hours' drive from Sofia airport. This resort has had the best snow cover of all Bulgarian ski resorts in recent years. Initially a small mountain town, the area has developed in recent years, with the introduction of proper infrastructure, some very high class hotels, local mehana restaurants, shops and ski schools.
The unique combination of modern skiing facilities and the native charm of the ancient village makes Bansko a top destination. Bansko is located 925 m above sea level, and its skiing area spreads from 1750 to 2500 m above sea level. The modern skiing facilities and proximity to Sofia made Bansko the key element of the Bulgarian 2014 Winter Olympic Candidature.
The average temperature during January is -1.9°C. Snow falls are abundant, providing a constant winter snow cover up to 2 metres thick. The skiing season lasts from mid-December to end-April.
