Bordeaux, with a population of just over half a million inhabitants, is located in the South West of France in the Aquitaine region. It is considered to be the most important port in the whole of Europe. It is perhaps better known, however, for its neoclassical architecture and spacious town centre, complete with wide avenues and well looked after parks. Bordeaux has preserved its 18th Century atmosphere, slightly livened up by the presence of 60,000 students from the local university.
