Home to one of the most documented Fiestas in Spain (La Tomatina) Buñol is situated on a hill in a valley inland from Chiva, off the A3, 30 min from Valencia. It is traditionally the capital of the area with a magnificent castle and historical remains dating from roman/arabic and bronze age. Nowadays, an immense cement factory, which at night when lit up looks like something out of E.T., powders the inhabitansand scares many people away from an otherwise very beautiful area with caves, rivers, natural springs. Well connected by cheap and cheerful train service as well as road.
