A ten minute walk to the busy market town of Orgiva, capitol of the Alpujarras and according to some U.K.weeklies, the New Age Capitol of the World, a 20 minutes drive to the tropical coast and 40 minutes to Granada with the Alhambra and Sierra Nevada's ski slopes, this property, or more accurately these two properties as there are two deeds (escrituras) under one name, is ideally located for the best of all worlds.One can enter the property through any of the three entrances which adjoin one another. The central entrance is the 60 sq. mt. garage which can hold four cars. The gates on either side of the garage open onto hardstanding shaded areas each of which can each accommodate a further two cars. If you did decide to convert this huge garage into a couple of double bedrooms and bathroom you would still have hard-standing space for four cars, or more if you park on the lawn! Leaving the garage or parking areas on either side of it one enters the enchanting shaded terraced area that runs along the east side of the cortijo. Following it south and rounding the corner we enter the 35 sq.mt. patio on the south side of the building.


Many lovely features have been built into it and the barbeque it houses. From here you have a splendid view of the garden and the mountains that lie between us and the coast. On the west side of the patio, next to the barbeque is the entrance to the 65 sq.mt. swimming pool. Beside the pool entrance is a changing room with shower.


Entering the house from the patio we have a small study on the left and a bathroom with toilet on the right. Continuing we arrive at the spacious and tastefully fitted kitchen/breakfast room (30 sq.mts.) which has a larder. This is the followed by a large double guest bedroom (18 - 20 sq.mt.) on the left and an impressive, light and spacious dining and lounge area on the right and beyond (74 -80 sq mt.) featuring a delightful fireplace. From here one can step outside and enjoy the back garden with it's sculpture and the snow capped Sierra Nevada mountains which lie beyond. At the far end of lounge lies the enormous master bedroom (40 sq. mts.) followed by a large bathroom (18 sq. mt.). There is access to the back garden with its stunning views from both these rooms as well.


If we bear in mind that in the above account we passed through the property from south to north and note that this passage has more or less been straight and through its centre, it is evident that conversion, for instance the master bedroom and bathroom into two large double bedrooms with their own bathrooms , is a simple and relatively inexpensive matter.


The property is ideal for letting. During the peak season one should be able to command a rental of 1,500 pounds per week for the property as it stands. I should point out that Chris and Chris (that's his wife's name and they are both capricorn!) have never let their property.
