All natural Log Home for sale in Loye, Valais, Switzerland
This exceptional log home in the Swiss Alps is ideal for 3-4 room Bed and Breakfast or retreat center - also for non-swiss residents. It is built on a land of 4705 m2, all building land. You can easily add another house or two, horse stables, atelier... A large part of the garden is completely fenced (horse and dog proof). Located just above the tiny village Loye in the Swiss Alps, (Grône) at about 1000 meters above sea level, at 15 min drive from Vercorin and Nax ski resorts and 30 min drive from Crans-Montana, Loye is situated in Wallis or Valais, a valley which is known for its microclimate and its many days of sunshine. The location is amazing: a stunning view over the Rhone valley, absolute tranquility, easily accessed in summer and winter, walking paths and horse riding tracks in the surrounding area. The house is brand new, the finishing (interior) touches are to be added. The entire building process has taken about three years since a natural drying method for the logs was used, and there has been a lot of manual craftsmanship involved. Special wood type Unlike most ordinary log homes, this house is build with Pinus Sylvestrus (Pine tree, Kiefern), a harder, more resistant wood. Some of the trees are over 250 years old. Prior to construction the logs have been given 1 year time to dry. This all makes these big logs last a very long time, they will not crack and all this without any chemical treatment. The all natural construction method that has been used, takes about 3 years. When the trees were felled in a Swiss forest, they were given the time to dry. After that, they were cut to the millimeter to fit each other. An amazing task, done by hand by the timberman using special measuring devices. Healthy Living Since a natural building method has been used, the wood is not treated with chemicals. Natural insulation materials were also used, such as sheep wool and a sort of wood wool. These products insulate the house very well. Between all of the logs, there is a thick coating of sheep wool. The roof and the floor are paved with wood wool. All this makes the house breathable and gives an optimal living climate. Air humidity is around 50%, which is optimal. This house is also very suitable for people with allergies. In total, there is about 260 m2 living area (excluding the cellar and balcony). The ground floor is made up of a huge living room with open plan kitchen (with island). It also has a hallway, a bathroom and a bedroom. Underneath the terrace, there will be a basement (will be made together with the terrace in spring). The whole ground floor has a unique ELM wood floor covering. The first floor consists of 3 bedrooms, a bathroom, a toilet, one mezzanine, a fireplace and a 24 m2 balcony with a great view. All of these rooms on the first floor are not yet finshed at this moment. You can still rearrange and add rooms to your liking, and you can decide on important finishing touches provided you contact us soon. The heating is by very efficient wood stoves, including a Finnish Tulikivi. The warm water is supplied by two solar panels. A 2400 kg Tulikivi massive stove has been installed. It will store the heat for 24 hours after burning and then slowly release it to the room. The wall behind it has been spaced out, so the bedroom is heated too. In spring, the garden will be 'molded' into shape and the driveway will be laid. The house can be occupied immediately if required. To buy this log home in its current point of construction (nearly finished), including 4705 m2 building land, and lay the finishing touches yourself, the price is CHF 1'290'000. If you would like the house to be finished for you according to your wishes, that is also possible.
