Feel the magic in Eastbourne

22nd September 2008 Print
More than 1,000 Magicians from around the world are about to descend on Eastbourne as the International Brotherhood of Magicians conference gets underway next week.

A favourite in the Eastbourne conference calendar, the Magicians’ conference is being held at the town’s Devonshire Park Centre for the 14th time this year with professionals and amateurs heading to the convention to improve their magical skills. The 72nd annual convention, this year magicians from across the globe will perform and lecture in front of their peers as well as dazzle in two very special shows at Eastbourne’s Devonshire Park and Congress Theatres.

Eastbourne Borough Council Spokesperson for Tourism, Cllr Steve Wallis said “I’m really looking forward to welcoming the Magicians back to Eastbourne later this month. Everybody loves magic and the whole town really does ‘feel the magic’, as some of the performers visit schools and care homes around the town to spread their cheer and surprise people with their impressive magic tricks.”

In Eastbourne for four days from 24 September, the Magicians will hold their annual convention at the town’s main conference venue, Devonshire Park. Making the most of the versatile space, including a 1,700 seat auditorium, the centre will be transformed, with their time in the town culminating in two stunning theatre shows.

Kids are invited to come and feel the magic on Saturday morning as the Devonshire Park Theatre plays stage to some of the country’s finest children’s entertainers plus a special guest all the way from the USA.

And on Saturday evening, a cast of magicians who usually spend their evenings performing at the entertainment capital of the world, Las Vegas, will wow audiences at the Congress Theatre with a show of wonderment, spectacle and mind boggling magic.
