Leeds Metropolitan University and the University of Leeds host a large amount of concerts throughout the year. This year is also the 10th year of the Leeds festival - a huge music festival running over three days 22-24th August. It runs together with an event in Reading and together the two venues have won the NME award for Best Live Event for three times in a row. The festival in Leeds will see around 60,000 visitors and has helped launch the careers of names such as Underworld, Arctic Monkeys, Editors, Foo Fighters and Coldplay. This year sees headliner bands Rage Against the Machine, The Killers and Metallica as well as many more great bands.
