Yorkshire cricket legend bowled over by Jet2.com
3 June 2008
Yorkshire and England cricketing legend, Geoffrey Boycott has given his seal of approval to Jet2.com’s new route to Jersey by joining the low cost airline on one of the first flights to the new Channel Islands destination from Leeds Bradford. A Yorkshire cricketing legend, Geoffrey is now based in Jersey with his wife Rachael. Despite this, he maintains close links to the region through family and friends and his close involvement with Yorkshire Cricket Club, and still visits the area regularly.
Geoffrey joined the new Jet2.com Jersey route last Thursday (29 May) which now flies from Leeds Bradford three times a week.
Geoffrey Boycott commented: “Both Yorkshire and Jersey are places that are very close to my heart so it is great that there is this new link between them. The new route also means that Jersey is now even more accessible to people in Yorkshire, meaning that people from this region can visit the island and experience what a beautiful and diverse place it really is.”
Ian Doubtfire, Managing Director of Jet2.com commented: “It is a real honour to welcome Geoffrey on-board. He is a true sporting legend and a hero to many cricket fans in Yorkshire so it is great that he chose to travel to Jersey with us. I know that he has many close links with Yorkshire so we look forward to welcoming him on-board many more flights between the two regions in the future.”
Jet2.com now flies to Jersey three times a week (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday) with fares starting from £29.99 one way including taxes.
