10 New Airbus A320 to increase Air One fleet

16th February 2007 Print
Air One has ordered ten new Airbus A320's, exercising ten of the sixty options and purchase rights it had reserved last year when the first thirty A320's were ordered. In total, Air One now has committed to 40 aircraft and has a further 50 options and purchase rights.

Three of them have already been delivered and the rest will arrive on a monthly basis. The A320 aircrafts will gradually replace the Boeing 737s.

The new aircraft configuration requested by Air One with 159 seats and the cabin divided into two classes, Business and Economy, makes the aircraft extremely comfortable with over 80 cm between seats. The entirely leather-upholstered seats and the comfortable cabin environment with its soft colours are further details that prove Air One’s attention to customers. The special configuration of the A320s also includes individual plasma screens for personalised in-flight entertainment. These new-generation aircraft also allow faster embarking and disembarking operations.

The new aircrafts are powered with CFM56-B6/P engines that allow lower polluting emissions (reduced consumption, gas emissions and acoustic pollution) and assure greater protection of the environment in compliance with international environmental standards. The latest-generation onboard equipment includes highly sophisticated systems such as HUD (Head Up Display) which improves the aircraft’s capabilities in low visibility conditions.

Carlo Toto, Chairman of Air One, commented: “The purchase of these further ten A320s confirms our company’s growth strategy: major development in the international market as well as consolidation in the domestic marketplace over the next few years. The Airbus A320s assure superior comfort and economics, as well as lower operating costs.”

Air One, the leading private Italian airline, operates over a network of 23 domestic and international destinations. It runs more than 1,900 flights a week and in 2006 carried 6.3 million passengers. For information and reservations visit the website flyairone.it/en
